Outcomes
I used Turning Point audience response software as an experiment in a
PA30247 lecture on “Fitness to Practise” for MPharm students. This has the
potential to be quite a dry subject; while the underlying philosophy of
professionalism and professional behaviours are interesting to present to
students the regulatory aspects of the subject are detailed and less
interesting to present in a lecture. I presented a number of recent cases
that have come before the RPSGB’s Disciplinary Committee or Registration
Appeals Panel. Students had to discuss the cases in small groups and then
“vote” as if members of these fitness to practise committees. Students
appeared to enjoy the session and all 89 indicated that they felt the
software had added value to the lecture.
