Outlook: separate windows for Mail and Calendar

Posted in: Computing Services

This is a great tip if you prefer having separate windows open for your Mail and for your Calendar in Outlook.  This is also really useful for those who work with 2 screens.

All you need to do is click on 'Calendar' or 'Mail' (depending on what's already open) with the right mouse button and select 'Open in New Window'.

If you want this to automatically take place every time you open Outlook, place the Mail and Calendar windows as you want them to open and select 'FILE', 'Exit'. This will close both windows and remember them whenever you open Outlook. After this, just click on the crosses at the top-right to close the windows as normal.

  • I close windows using Alt+F4. Less mouse work, which has to be a good thing!
