Our new Assistive Technology room opens 8 January

Posted in: Assistive Technology, Computing Services

The Assistive Technology room, previously located on Level 3 in the Library, has now been moved to Level 2. Following feedback from students we have ensured that the new room is bigger, brighter and warmer. In the room there are 4 computers with Windows 10 and specialist software that can help students to improve their productivity and increase accessibility to digital resources.

Some improvements include:

  • height adjustable desks and ergonomic chairs are provided with space for students wishing to use their own laptops
  • an automatic door to improve accessibility
  • a Braille embosser, an electronic magnifier and a large print keyboard are available for students with visual impairments
  • a printer, scanner, projector and two whiteboards

Students using the room are able to call the Assistive Technology Team for support by pressing the bell installed in the room or alternatively submit a help ticket. Students can request access to the AT Room by contacting University’s Disability Services. Discover more information about the room.
