You may be aware of some increased phishing attacks and SPAM emails that have affected staff and students recently. One of these was the 'are you on campus?' email scam, which we blogged about.
Please be aware that we will never ask for sensitive personal details (such as your password or credit card details) in an email. If you are unsure, we detail examples of the most recent phishing attempts on our Wiki page.
Report Message button
A great feature we'd like to highlight, now that we have moved to Office 365, is the addition of the 'Report Message' button in Outlook, which you can see below.
If you receive a suspicious email that you want to report, you can select the ‘Report Message’ button which is located on the top right-hand side of your screen. From there, a drop down list appears, with the options:
- Not Junk
Choose the option that applies to the email you’ve been sent and it will be forwarded to Microsoft for analysis and also to our IT Security Team. The email will then be deleted from your inbox keeping you safe and secure.
