Posted in: International Agents Newsletter 2019

Dear overseas partners,

Welcome to the February issue of the University of Bath Agents' Newsletter. This is a substantial update following on from our New Year newsletter last month as we head into the business end of the recruitment cycle.

There are a number of important updates included below, including the latest on our Postgraduate Virtual Open Days, the opening of our new gym, a new cafe on campus with an international flavour and an update on our scholarships.

Please look at the table of contents below to make sure you don't miss an important update.

As always please share this information among your agents and with all those involved in counselling prospective students.

If you have any questions, please email j.m.vittles@bath.ac.uk.

Virtual Open Day^

Our latest Postgraduate Virtual Open Day took place on February 6, and was our most successful event so far with students from across the world logging on to live chat with current chats.

Our live panel also proved a big hit, with many students watching all four 30-minute sessions. The event was rated good or excellent by 98% of respondents and 85% said they were more likely to apply or accept an offer after attending the Virtual Open Day.

The next Postgraduate Virtual Open Day will take place on April 6, 11am-3pm BST, you can register your interest here. Please do encourage your students to attend at least one of our Virtual Open Days in either April or June, to help them learn more about life here at Bath and also get their questions answered in real time.

New Polden Cafe^

Our newest food outlet on campus, CAFÉ at Polden, opened on Thursday, February 14.

The cafe has a distinctly international flavour boasting an extensive tea selection, including

  • Bubble tea, a refreshing flavoured fruit or milk based tea served hot or cold with chewy tapioca balls
  • Mate tea, a popular hot drink from South America
  • Oolong, a traditional Chinese herbal tea to help aid relaxation

New Gym Open^

The new Team Bath Gym & Fitness Centre, a two-storey extension that more than doubles the existing gym capacity at the University of Bath to 1,536 square metres, opened to students, staff and the public in February.

The facility greatly enhances the already world-class, multi-sport training environment at the University’s Sports Training Village and is kitted out with state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment.

It also includes a spacious upper floor with natural light plus two dedicated studio spaces for group exercise classes, with 100 taking place every week. Find out more by clicking here.

This is also a good time to remind you that all fee-paying students (including Postgraduates) are able to claim a free Sports Pass here at the University of Bath.

The Sports Pass is included in the fees of all students and allows access to a host of facilities at the Sports Training Village, including our London 2012 legacy swimming pool, tennis, squash and badminton courts, athletics track, astro pitches, and indoor sports hall at no additional cost.

UG Admissions^

Thank you for your applications so far, we are processing decisions as soon as possible with the aim to have updated the status for all ‘on-time’ applicants on UCAS Track by the 31st March 2019. As you may be aware, some of our courses are extremely popular and therefore, in order to apply equity, some applicants may not hear until nearer the end of March.

We are still open for applications for the majority of courses here at Bath, so please encourage your students to apply.

Currently the only courses that are now closed are:

Social Work

FD Sports Performance

To advise you of the expected timeline for these later applications, we may not begin reviewing any made after the 15th January, until the beginning of April, we will of course, process decisions as quickly as possible after that date. Thank you for your consideration and patience during this time.

Should you have any questions or require any further support regarding undergraduate admissions, please do not hesitate to contact us via email on either admissions@bath.ac.uk

or uginternationaladmissions@bath.ac.uk.
