Getting started with eXe
The Help menu within the eXe software allows you to access two help resources: a tutorial and a manual. The eXe manual is also available online at
http://www.wikieducator.org/Online_manual
Exporting eXe tutorials
Once you’ve created your tutorial, here’s how you export it from eXe. From the menus in eXe, select
- File > Export > SCORM 1.2
Name the file and save it in a place that’s right for you. It will be a zip file, with a filename that ends .zip.
Uploading eXe tutorials into Moodle
Here’s a screencast to help with this task.
http://blogs.bath.ac.uk/elat/files/2009/04/exe_into_moodle.mp4Transcript:
- The eXe tutorial to upload is currently on the desktop. It’s a zip file.
- Log on to Moodle and view the week during which the tutorial is needed.
- Turning editing on.
- From the ‘Add a resource…’ dropdown menu, select ‘Add an IMS Content Package’.
- In the resulting form, type the tutorial name in the first box.
- Scroll down a little, and select the button that says ‘Choose to upload a file’.
- Another window will open. Select the ‘Upload a file’ button, and then browse to find the eXe tutorial zip file.
- Select ‘Upload this file’, then ‘Choose’.
- In the ‘Window’ part of the form, select the tutorial to open in a new window.
- You may need to select ‘View advanced’ to ensure you can see all the options.
- Change the window size to be a bit bigger than the default size. 1000 wide by 600 high is a good size.
- Scroll down and change ‘Navigation buttons’ from ‘No’ to ‘Yes’.
- Finally, select ‘Save and display’…
- …’Deploy’…
- …and then ‘View IMS Content Package’.
- Your tutorial is now uploaded into Moodle.
