Service Description:

To provide a central contact point for individuals at the University of Bath to develop, discuss and share practice around the creation and use of web based, stand alone, e-learning tutorials. The central point will be the eLAT Service Blog (http://blogs.bath.ac.uk/elat). The supported software for the creation of these e-learning tutorials will be eXe.

To provide support for staff on the innovative uses of e-learning tutorials in their learning and teaching. This will be through the collection and dissemination of good practice (both internal and external to the University) and the provision of an appropriate staff development model.

To provide ongoing research into the effective uses of e-learning Authoring Tools within UK HEIs (as described above).

The eLAT Service Blog is hosted by Web Services, and the content is written by members of the e-learning Team. The eXe software (http://exelearning.org/wiki) is an open source programme being co-ordinated by Core Education (http://core-ed.net/)

  • Provision, of the latest stable version of the eXe software, made available via our eLAT Service Blog, as long as the eXe software is appropriate to need and open source.
  • Provision, maintenance and development of documentation and FAQs for the eXe software (http://www.bath.ac.uk/learningandteaching/ltfaq/index.php?sid=41524 )
  • User support and development for technical and pedagogical support and advice, 1-2-1 face to face staff development

    • Authoring of materials, content and the development of activities. The expectations is users will author their own materials.
    • Installation of the eXe software (see your local computer support person)
    • Support for any other e-learning authoring Tool, such as Hot Potatoes

      • Users must abide by the University of Bath Computing Services Policies and Guidelines. These are listed at;

      • The eLAT Blog Servie (and download of eXe software) is available both on and off campus via a web browser.

      Access Rights:

      • The eLAT Blog Service and eXe software is available to all staff and students at the University of Bath without the need for user authnetication.
