The MRC announce the launch of the new Public Health Intervention Development (PHIND) Scheme

Posted in: HealthResSW

The Public Health Intervention Development scheme (PHIND) is a new Medical Research Council (MRC) funding scheme designed specifically to support the early phases of developing public health interventions.

Funding is available for primary research (qualitative or quantitative) ranging from developing theory or models to shape the intervention, to feasibility studies. Studies should address an important UK or global public health issue and offer an innovative approach to intervention development or applying an existing intervention in a new setting.

PHIND support for intervention development studies complements the funding already available from NIHR, MRC Global Health and other sources for the subsequent stages of public health intervention development and evaluation.

The PHIND scheme aims to use research to develop better interventions that are more likely to prove effective and cost-effective when evaluated.

To apply go to Public Health Intervention Development Scheme (PHIND) at http://www.mrc.ac.uk/Fundingopportunities/Grants/index.htm or contact publichealth@headoffice.mrc.ac.uk
