Mar 17th: Interested in using Moodle on an iPhone?
Posted by Nitin Parmar in Moodle4iPhone March 17th, 2010The e-Learning team have recently come across an exciting development that is likely to take the Moodle community by storm, namely Moodle for the iPhone.
To get an idea of what this iPhone app will do, take a look at the video below to get an insight into some of the functionality. This includes the ability to edit your profile, access Moodle courses, read and post to discussion forums, download and view PowerPoint presentations and PDFs… and complete quizzes!
Get involved!
We are currently looking for staff and students who might be interested joining a special interest group and getting involved in beta testing of this application. If this post has caught you eye, why not send an email to e-learning@bath.ac.uk. The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday 19 March 2010.
By getting involved, you will become part of the Moodle for the iPhone testing team and will be able to access and see the mobile application for Moodle in action, provide feedback and potentially, play an important part in shaping the rest of the development.

Interesting development Nitin! Any thoughts on whether a Windows Mobile 6.5/7 version might be available as well.

Hi Philip – no sign of a Windows Mobile interface for Moodle just yet (at Bath at least), though Andy might be interested in this after the Moodle4iPhone project as he’s got a device on the same OS.
I know that Lewis Carr (who is part of the official Moodle4iPhone development team) has done some work on Windows Mobile interfaces up at Leeds City College though. More information at: http://lewiscarr.co.uk/content/moodle-windows-mobile-pocket-ie

Will this also be available for the iPod Touch, and to that end, do you want testers for that? They usually share apps, so as long as it doesn’t use 3G features, the camera or the microphone, something developed for the iPhone ought to work on the Touch.

Hi Jenna – yes, I’m pleased to say that the application does work on an iPod Touch!
