Polden Development Update - May

Posted in: Polden

Welcome to the 16th monthly update on the new Polden Corner Student Accommodation project.

You may have noticed the progress being made on the stone cladding on the exterior of the building. This progress will allow us to remove some of the scaffolding currently installed between the two buildings.

The brackets for the ‘Brise Soleil’ system have been installed, which will sit in front of the staircase glazing. Up on the roof, the majority of the finishes are now installed and a permanent handrail is being fitted.

The work inside the building is progressing very well. The bedroom furniture is being installed and we’re fitting the first of the kitchens into the project.

Work is now underway in all of the 293 bedrooms, with a growing team on site all working hard to get the buildings finished. Good progress is being made with the lifts, and work has started on the finishing touches to the staircases.

At the rear of the building, contractors are building the concrete retaining wall structures that will form part of the landscaping design.

The University Estates, AHS, and Security teams are continuing to work closely with contractors to keep any disruption to a minimum as the project progresses.
