Posted in: School of Management

Welcome to your monthly update on the progress of the School of Management new building project.

Work recommences on site

Bouygues UK has implemented the recommended procedures for its sites to operate safely in the current COVID-19 environment, enabling the site to reopen on 20 April.

Off site, the design and commercial teams are continuing to work at full capacity.

Progress update

Reinforced Concrete Frame

Prior to site closure on 27 March, the pour of Level 3 slab had been completed up to the knuckle and west wing. This floor will include faculty offices, seminar rooms and the behavioural lab.

On the east wing, decking has been put in place with steel reinforcement installed for the last pour on Level 3. We have also started forming the Level 4 deck to the knuckle.

Groundworks

Progress on groundworks has transformed the pavilion area. Drainage has been installed and the foundations for the upcoming steel frame are now in place. The area has been prepared for future works and levels brought up to level zero of the building.

Substation/ Ground Floor

In the west wing and substation the core walls have been installed, backfill is ongoing and decking and reinforcement for the slab has started. We have also begun waterproofing the ground floor area.
