Pedro Estrela makes 2nd visit to Uni Sao Paulo

Pedro Estrela visited the University of São Paulo (USP) for the 2nd time as part of an exchange scheme funded by the University of Bath and FAPESP (SPRINT programme).

The visit to the campus in Ribeirão Preto enabled further interactions with the members of the group of Prof Mulato as well as other academics in USP Ribeirão Preto.

He also visited research groups in UNESP Araraquara and USP Sao Carlos.

 

Pedro Estrela visits Ribeirao Preto

Pedro Estrela visited the University of São Paulo (USP) as part of an exchange scheme funded by the University of Bath and FAPESP (SPRINT programme).

The visit to the campus in Ribeirão Preto was very useful to interact with the members of the group of Prof Mulato as well as visit the facilities and learn about the spread of research being done at USP Ribeirão Preto.

The visit was followed by attendance at the Brazilian Materials Research Society conference in Campinas where Dr Estrela had an invited talk. The conference enabled to establish further links with Brazilian researchers which can lead to future collaborations.

 

Funding for staff visits to/from Sao Paulo

A new research collaboration with Prof Marcelo Mulato at the University of São Paulo (campus Ribeirão Preto) received funding from FAPESP (São Paulo State Research Foundation) and the University of Bath for exchange of researchers through the SPRINT programme (São Paulo Researchers in International Collaboration).

Several visits from Prof Mulato to Bath and from Dr Estrela to Ribeirão Preto are planned during the next 2 years to develop a collaboration programme on the development of novel biosensor devices for improved cancer diagnosis.

 

visits to Rhodes University, South Africa

Nello Formisano spent 2 weeks in September working in the group of Prof Janice Limson at the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology & Biotechnology, Rhodes University, South Africa. Pedro Estrela also visited Rhodes during this period.
The visits were funded by the University of Bath through an International Research Mobility Award.

 

Pawan Jolly - placement at Slovak Academy of Sciences

Pawan Jolly is spending 1 month working in the laboratory of Dr Jan Tkac at the Department of Glycobiotechnology, Institute of Chemistry, Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. This placement is part of the training provided within the PROSENSE ITN.

 

Extended visit to Rhodes University

The visit was funded by the Mellon Senior Scholars programme of Rhodes University
