GWR timetable changes and Network Rail improvement work in 2019

Please see below information from GWR on upcoming timetable changes and improvements going ahead on local services:

Timetable changes

On Sunday 15 December, we’ll be introducing the biggest timetable change on our network since 1976, bringing faster, more frequent services with more seats across the region.

Around three quarters of journey times will be changing as we add new services and change old ones as part of the improvements. You can get more information and sign up for alerts on gwr.com/Timetable2019.

Improvement work:

  • Electrification work to Cardiff will affect train services on various weekends until Sunday 20 October.  For more information on this please visit gwr.com/Electrification.
  • Track renewals will affect train services between Bristol Temple Meads, Weston-super-Mare and Taunton on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September and on Sundays 6 and 13 October.  Signal upgrades will affect services through Bristol Parkway on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October with some trains diverted and buses replacing some services to/from Cardiff Central.  For more information, please visit gwr.com/Bristol.
  • Tunnel and track maintenance in the Taunton area will affect train services between Weston-super-mare or Castle Cary and Tiverton Parkway from Saturday 9 to Thursday 14 November. For more information on this please visit gwr.com/Taunton.
  • Further upgrade work over Christmas will affect train services between Bristol Parkway, Cardiff Central and Bridgend from Friday 27 December until Wednesday 1 January. Upgrade work is also planned over Christmas affecting trains to/from London Paddington as well as Gatwick Airport and Salisbury. More information is available on gwr.com/Christmas.”
