Despite having half a team we’ve got an app working at the end of day one! It still needs more work but you can see where we’re going with it.

I think In Pictures is a great idea. One thought – why you decided to develop your own app for submission and rating of pictures, rather than say encouraging users to submit them to a Flickr pool?
Am also very intrigued by the hints the beta In Pictures site gives of your larger project to redevelop the Bath website. I guess the Study/Research/Departments/Business/About headings come from that? I have been thinking about a similar structure at University of Bristol. Would love to hear more about that project…

Hi Nick,
We thought that having to get a Flickr account might be a barrier to people contributing photos. In Pictures is powered by WordPress and the PhotoSmash Galleries plugin. We are considering pushing photos to Flickr once they are in the gallery to give them more exposure.

You are right the headings do come from our plans for the new website (our research site is currently being beta tested internally).
