Since starting this role two months ago I have been working on a variety of projects, including creating and reviewing resources. I am particularly interested in academic skills and an important academic skill is utilising feedback effectively. \u00a0I know this first hand; as I reach the end of my second year, I feel I have done my fair share of assignments and sometimes keeping track of all my feedback has been difficult at times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A new feature on Moodle allows us as students to see feedback from every assignment across the academic year for us to better identify patterns and ultimately make progress. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/xerte.bath.ac.uk\/preview.php?template_id=2469#page1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Reflecting on your feedback<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> will not only help improve your academic work but also builds <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/unihub.bath.ac.uk\/s\/myemployability\/Workflows\/Detail\/265#stage12943\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">adaptability as a key employability capability<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0Being adaptable enables us to learn from experience and apply that learning in new situations<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What and where is the feedback centre?<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">When you log into Moodle, by default you will be on the home page. By selecting \u2018Dashboard\u2019 on the top menu, the feedback centre\u00a0is displayed to you as an option. When you open it, a large table shows all the assignments you\u2019ve submitted<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> along with the grade. There will also be an option to open the feedback within the table, as well as adding your own reflection. With everything in the same place, I have found it makes identifying patterns in feedback easier!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">How to feedforward<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/guides\/feedback-on-your-assignments-what-it-is-and-how-to-use-it\/#use-the-moodle-feedback-centre\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Feedback<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> evaluates something that happens in the past. Sometimes I struggle to see the value in reflecting on something that can no longer be changed. However, feedback is one of the most powerful tools in moving forward!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Before submitting my next assignment, I\u2019ll take time to look at the comments I received the last time I submitted something in that style. Using feedback is a great opportunity to fill gaps in skillsets and identify areas for change. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">This helps me <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/unihub.bath.ac.uk\/s\/myemployability\/skills\/providers?page=1&amp;skillIds=35\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">develop adaptability<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">, one of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/guides\/my-employability-profile\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">the key employability capabilities<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">. By recognising patterns in my feedback and adjusting my approach, I can actively build <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">my <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ability to respond to challenges and improve over time.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> For example, I can see from the feedback centre that when I gave presentations<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> structure is an area for improvement.\u00a0 Therefore, I know that the next time I deliver a presentation, the structure of it is something I need to give specific attention to. \u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559685&quot;:0,&quot;335559737&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The power of reflection<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/guides\/feedback-on-your-assignments-what-it-is-and-how-to-use-it\/#use-the-moodle-feedback-centre\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Feedback is valuable<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">! To get the most out of it, reflect on what it means to you. Helpfully, there is a tool for reflection built into the feedback centre. By accessing this, you can use a text box to record your thoughts. Writing your thoughts is a great way to think about actionable next steps. It\u2019s a really good idea to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/xerte.bath.ac.uk\/preview.php?template_id=2469#page1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">reflect on all feedback<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, whether you\u2019ve received mainly good comments but especially if comments you were given are constructive ways to improve performance. I like to reflect on feedback by identifying one key thing that I want to carry forward into my next assignment and two constructive steps that I want to take next time for improvement. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">At the end of the day, feedback is only useful if it\u2019s acted on. The feedback tool that keeps everything in one place turns scattered comments into a clear plan for action.
