But don\u2019t worry, here are a few tips to help you connect with more people and feel more at home!<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Join a \u201csupported social groups\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Student Support offers a variety of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/guides\/supported-social-groups\/\">support groups<\/a> aimed at helping students who may be feeling lonely to connect with others and become part of a community. One of these groups is the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/campaigns\/social-networking-group\/\"><strong>Social Networking Group<\/strong><\/a>, which holds weekly sessions designed to help students meet new people and make friends.<\/p>\n<p>Each session includes activities, but they\u2019re completely optional\u2014so there\u2019s no pressure to join in if you\u2019re not feeling up for it. If you\u2019re feeling isolated and want to meet someone new, feel free to drop by. You never know\u2014you might just find someone you really click with!<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> It\u2019s never too late to join a society or sports club<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This tip might seem obvious, but it's worth emphasising: it\u2019s never too late to join a community. Some students think they\u2019ve missed their chance if they didn\u2019t sign up during Fresher\u2019s Week, but that\u2019s not the case! Don\u2019t let that stop you from getting involved.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re interested in a society, it means you already share something in common with the people there, so there\u2019s no need to worry about \u201cgetting a head start.\u201d Just relax, show up to the socials or activities, and you\u2019ll likely meet people you connect with. It\u2019s all about finding your people\u2014there\u2019s always time for that! This also apply to sports club, they are all available socially for total beginners. If you would like to explore new hobbies or interest, you can also try out and explore the sports club and meet some new people along the way.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> Volunteering<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Aside from joining a society, volunteering is another awesome way to meet new people. Volunteers usually have hearts of gold, so you\u2019ll probably connect with some really kind and lovely individuals.<\/p>\n<p>You can explore volunteering opportunities through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesubath.com\/volunteer\/\">The SU<\/a>\u2014whether it\u2019s student-run groups like the V Team or RAG, or opportunities posted on the SU page for off-campus organizations.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a rewarding way to make new friends while giving back!<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> Getting a part-time job<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>When you start a job, you\u2019ll likely spend several hours with your co-workers during each shift. This provides a great opportunity to get to know each other and discover common interests.<\/p>\n<p>The SU page advertises various work opportunities, including roles provided by the university\u2014like working in campus stores or as a student ambassador\u2014as well as positions with external organizations. Be sure to check them out! Not only will you have the chance to meet new people, but you could also earn some extra money to support your finances!<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> Who to talk to when struggling?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Our university offers the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/guides\/student-support-advice-service\/\"><strong>Student Support Advice Service<\/strong><\/a> , where you can discuss anything on your mind. Whether you\u2019re struggling to adjust to university life, feeling lonely, or unsure about friendships they\u2019re here to help.<\/p>\n<p>You can meet with an advisor in person, over the phone, or online\u2014whatever works best for you. If you\u2019re looking for someone to talk to, don\u2019t hesitate to reach out to this valuable service!<\/p>\n<p><strong>To sum it up!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We know it can feel overwhelming when you can\u2019t find your community in a new environment, but it\u2019s never too late to explore new opportunities to connect with others.
