What\u2019s surprised you about moving to\/living in the UK?<\/strong><\/p>\n How early everything closes, especially on weekends! I remember heading into town after school one day (I was at boarding school) and realized all the shops had already closed. I just wanted to grab some stationery, but it was too late! \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n What do you miss most about your hometown\/country? How have you overcome this, was there a positive outcome?<\/strong><\/p>\n I definitely miss the food, especially my favourite restaurants back home! To cope, I\u2019ve been exploring new places to eat in Bath and started cooking more to recreate the flavours I love from Hong Kong. It\u2019s been a pleasant surprise\u2014my cooking skills have improved, and I\u2019ve found some great spots that I\u2019m excited to show my friends in HK when they visit!<\/p>\n What is the biggest similarity between your hometown\/country and Bath\/UK?<\/strong><\/p>\n Street names! Hong Kong still has many British-style street names because of its history as a British colony, so it can sometimes feel oddly familiar.<\/p>\n What are your top three things to do in Bath?<\/strong><\/p>\n I love grabbing ice cream with friends at Kingston Parade, going for late-night Sainsbury\u2019s runs with my flatmates (and maybe stopping by Heavenly Desserts), and walking down from campus, passing by the Bath Skyline\u2014it\u2019s such a breath-taking view!<\/p>\n Are you part of any clubs\/societies at Uni or in Bath?<\/strong><\/p>\n I\u2019m the secretary of STAR (Student Action for Refugees), treasurer of the Food Society, and the Welfare Officer for Nightline. It\u2019s been so rewarding as the committee member, I\u2019ve picked up a bunch of skills and met people from different courses and years. I definitely recommend joining societies, you\u2019ll find one you love for sure!<\/p>\n What do you love most about living in Bath?<\/strong><\/p>\n The atmosphere! Bath has this chill, cozy vibe, and there\u2019s something really special about seeing everyone just enjoying the city together. It makes living here feel even more charming.<\/p>\n What\u2019s your favourite place to eat\/favourite takeaway in Bath?<\/strong><\/p>\n Real Italian Ice Cream <3<\/p>\n What\u2019s the best or worst thing you\u2019ve eaten since being in the UK?<\/strong><\/p>\n Scones are my absolute favourite!<\/p>\n Is there somewhere in Bath\/UK that you\u2019d like to go but haven\u2019t been yet?<\/strong><\/p>\n I really want to go to Thorpe Park, but still haven\u2019t found someone brave enough to go on all the rides with me \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n What\u2019s your favourite or weirdest UK tradition you\u2019ve learned about?<\/strong><\/p>\n Afternoon tea!<\/p>\n What\u2019s your favourite British slang\/word?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cBloody!\u201d<\/p>\n What\u2019s your top tip for international students?<\/strong><\/p>\n Find your people and build a solid support network. You\u2019ll meet loads of people, but having a few close friends who really get you is key. It\u2019s especially important when things get busy and it\u2019s harder to stay in touch with family or friends back home.
