On Friday 11 March\u00a0we\u00a0received a Fairtrade Gold award\u00a0in the category of Best Fairtrade University or College in the South West 2016.<\/p>\n
It's the second year running that we've been given the award and we're absolutely delighted that our continued support for the Fairtrade Foundation has been so successful.<\/p>\n
Su Steenberg, PA to Director of AHS\/Project Coordinator, was at the awards and collected the certificate on behalf of the University.<\/p>\n
The event took place at the At-Bristol Science Centre<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0hosted by ethical beauty and wellbeing expert, Liz Earle MBE<\/a>, whose range of Fairtrade Gold jewellery was recently displayed at The Edge.<\/p>\n Following on from Fairtrade Fortnight<\/a>, the ceremony continued\u00a0the Sit Down for Breakfast, Stand Up For Farmers<\/em> campaign<\/a> which highlights the plight of poorly paid\u00a0farmers in developing countries. This is something that is at the very core of the Fairtrade\u00a0initiative.<\/p>\n There were 68 organisations shortlisted for the awards, including the University of Bath.
