FAQ Careers Service and Covid-19<\/strong><\/p>\n

We in the Careers Service understand that the current current Covid-19 situation is making many students and graduates feel uneasy and worried about their future, both in the UK and also abroad. Therefore please see below what we in the Careers Service are doing to support our students and graduates plus some local volunteering resources.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are still deadlines for job opportunities and further study and we will do our utmost best to support you through this process, keep you updated on what is happening in the labour market and share any new and careers resources that you may find useful at this time. There will still be jobs out there and remember that we are also here for you even after you graduate!<\/span><\/p>\n

However, if you don\u2019t want to think about your career right now, that is also completely fine.<\/strong> Give yourself permission to do what makes you feel good, concentrate on your own wellbeing and just take care of you! Here are some resources from Student Minds<\/a> for you to do just that.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q Can I come and visit you in the Virgil Building?<\/strong><\/p>\n

No, the Careers Service closed its doors on Wednesday 19 March and we have now fully moved online. If you have any careers advice or application queries, please email us at <\/span>careers@bath.ac.uk<\/span><\/a> and someone will get back to you as soon as they can. We are currently checking the mailbox during normal working hours.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: Can I still book a room in the Virgil Building for a video\/phone interview?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes \u2013 as long as the Virgil Building remains open and staffed, we can still offer room bookings. Please email <\/span>careers@bath.ac.uk<\/span> to arrange this. The Virgil Reception team will be able to give you access to the room.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q How can I book an appointment?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Until further notice, we are offering e-advice only. We will respond to your query as soon as possible, but at least within 48 hours. Please email <\/span>careers@bath.ac.uk<\/span><\/a> with your careers query or application advice query (please attach CV, Cover Letter, personal statement or add your LinkedIn profile link) and we will get back to you as soon as we can.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q \u00a0I want to get advice about reasonable adjustments for applications and interviews or starting work \u2013 can you help me?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes, please email <\/span>Careers-Plus@bath.ac.uk<\/span><\/a> and one of our Careers Advisers will get back you you as soon as they can.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q Where can I find your careers resources?<\/strong><\/p>\n

All of our careers resources can be found on <\/span>MyFuture <\/span><\/a>and if you have extra time on your hands, have a look at our <\/span>Careers Essentials page <\/span><\/a>on where to start! We have lots of resources on how to choose a career, on career planning, creating those applications and much much more. Have a look today.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q I can\u2019t log in to MyFuture, can you help?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes, if you are a current student or graduate, please email <\/span>careers@bath.ac.uk<\/span><\/a> and we will support you in gaining access. You can also <\/span>find more information here.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Q Will you still be running careers events?<\/strong><\/p>\n

All of our on campus events have now been cancelled, however there are some webinars that you can currently book on to on <\/span>MyFuture Events<\/span><\/a>, if they are relevant to you. We envisage that there will be more online events on MyFuture in the near future, both from employers and from the Careers Service. Keep an eye out on MyFuture Events and we will also send updates through email, so keep on checking your Bath email.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q I have a deadline coming up and need help with my CV, can you help?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes, we can! Please email your CV to <\/span>careers@bath.ac.uk<\/span><\/a> and one of our Application Advisers will help you with online feedback.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bear in mind that we currently aim to respond to queries within 48 hours but responses may take longer depending on the demand we are experiencing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q Where can I find most up to date information about Covid-19?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you are looking for up to date information, we advise that you keep updated through <\/span>University of Bath\u2019s student advice pages<\/span><\/a> It is also advised to keep an eye out daily for the <\/span>latest updates from the University<\/span><\/a> about the Covid-19 situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q I am feeling anxious about the situation, who can I talk to?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Student Services is keeping a remote service and you are able to contact them by phone and email at this time and possible video in the future. <\/span>See here for the most up to date information.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

The Chaplaincy on campus is open and staff is offering support through phone, facetime or social distanced meetings. Email Nigel or<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>drop by the Chaplaincy<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q I would like to volunteer my time - what can I do?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Below is a brief list of groups we have come across although there may be more we are not aware of. We are not able to vouch for any of these groups, so please make a personal judgement before choosing to volunteer. If you decide to volunteer, please keep yourself safe and keep others\u2019 safety in mind. Make sure to follow any health & safety <\/span>guidelines from the government<\/span><\/a> and from the organisations themselves and consider all of this when volunteering.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are overseas, have a look at local community groups where you are, it seems Facebook is most used social media to organise local volunteering!<\/span><\/p>\n

UK Mutual Aid Community<\/span><\/a> - UK - based evolving list of community groups. Support vulnerable groups in your area<\/span><\/p>\n
