October and November are our busiest month here at Careers. We are offering as many appointments as we can right now, but due to high demand, they are being booked up quickly. While we recommend leaving plenty of time to refine and submit your application, we appreciate that short deadlines and other commitments mean this isn\u2019t always possible. If you can\u2019t get an appointment in time, there are other things you can do to take the stress out of your job application.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s a good chance your application will be screened by an applicant tracking system (ATS) before a member of the recruitment team sees it. CV360<\/a> is an online tool that can help you optimise your CV for an ATS. It\u2019s quick and easy \u2013 just upload your CV to receive instant, automated feedback.<\/p>\n Please be aware that CV360 isn\u2019t the best tool for reviewing skills, or tailoring your CV to a role. However, it\u2019s good at feeding back on the practicalities, such as language and spelling.<\/p>\n We get it \u2013 you don\u2019t have time to read an entire guide. Thankfully, you don\u2019t have to! The guide contains a list of contents and it\u2019s all fully hyperlinked. Instead of trawling through the whole thing, you can jump straight to the section on formatting, the STAR method, or whatever it is you\u2019re looking for. There are sample CVs, cover letters and personal statements in the appendix, annotated by our advisers to highlight what works well. Take a look and see if you can use the feedback from these examples to enhance your own CV or cover letter. Access the guide on MyFuture.<\/a><\/p>\n If you can spare the time, search MyFuture resources<\/a> for our recorded webinars. You can hear from our advisers (and\/or information team!) about CVs<\/a>, cover letters<\/a> and job application forms<\/a>. We run these sessions on a weekly basis, so you might also have the option to attend live and ask your own questions in the Q&A at the end! Check for upcoming webinars in the events tab on MyFuture<\/a>.<\/p>\n For an even more interactive experience, consider booking on to one of our CV feedback workshops. These take place online roughly every two weeks. You\u2019ll learn about the basic principles of writing an effective CV, and then you\u2019ll be allocated a CV to review yourself. Meanwhile, someone will review yours. This is a great way to proactively learn CV writing skills and receive feedback. However, we are happy to answer quick questions via email<\/a> and MyFuture<\/a>. This could be a question on how to display your grades, who your references should be, what information to include on a cover letter, and so on. We can\u2019t give you feedback on a document, but we can try our best to solve your head-scratchers!
