We have advice and resources for postgraduate taught students with limited experience<\/a> and also for experienced hire students<\/a>, those of you with more than 2+ years\u2019 experience.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Do you know that if you are interested in applying for big national or international companies, specifically in business & finance, and also big STEM companies, then you need to start researching and exploring job roles as soon as possible. These graduate schemes are usually for students with limited work experience. \u00a0Many of these companies recruit a year in advance through so \u2013 called graduate schemes, and you will find them advertised through MyFuture or other job sites. You can find a recruitment timeline video<\/a> in our get started guide or you can find more general information about graduate job search in our Get started: Search for work guide<\/a>. If you find it a bit too overwhelming to start job search straight away, be aware that you often can apply to graduate scheme as a new graduate as well.<\/p>\n Even as a postgraduate taught student you will find many ways of finding work experience whilst a student at Bath. There may be applied projects and learning through your course, however you may find a part-time job or volunteering through Students\u2019 Union, or get involved in campus employability initiatives such as Vertically Integrated Projects<\/a> or IKEEP.<\/a> There are also plenty of opportunities to get involved in your Students\u2019 Union<\/a>. However, postgraduate study can be demanding, so make sure you don\u2019t take on too many activities and have time for your academic study and wellbeing as well.<\/p>\n Employers also like to see that you have been involved in extra \u2013 curricular activities whilst a student. There are events during Freshers Week for PG students<\/a>, there may be societies that you want to join<\/a> or explore the Students\u2019 Union PGT Hub.<\/a> You can find more ideas in the work experience resource listed above.<\/p>\n First of all, enjoy your first few weeks at Bath. Get to know campus, meet your course mates and explore what the city of Bath has to offer. Enjoy the countryside behind campus, visit the Roman Baths and make sure you understand your timetable. If you have travelled far and you are in a new country and also speaking a different language than your own, it may take a little time before you are settled, and this is fine.<\/p>\n If you are finding it difficult make sure to reach out \u00a0for support, whether that is family, new or old friends or contact some of the support services on campus, such as the International Student Support Service<\/a> or Wellbeing<\/a>.
