However, this tool does not always provide the functionality required of blogging for learning or assessment, therefore we have added a new plugin to Moodle which can allow staff to add blogs as learning activities in their Moodle spaces. (If you have a Teacher or Teacher+ role in Moodle and you are interested in using blogs please email tel@bath.ac.uk with the name of your Moodle course and we will enable it for you).

Blogging can be a helpful way for students to write and publish their written work, which they can then share with others to get feedback via comments. You can visit our blogging page where we have identified some of the main reasons why you might use a blog with your students. One of the most common reasons is for reflective work, where students can look back on what they have learned and articulate it for others.

This new Blog activity in Moodle will let you set up blogs as follows:

A course blog – where everyone enrolled in the Moodle space can post and comment.

Group blogs – where group mode is on, a course blog becomes a group blog, where only the people in the group can post.
