Digital skills are essential\u00a0<\/span>for learning, teaching and research\u00a0<\/span>as HE providers<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>workplaces\u00a0<\/span>are changing\u00a0<\/span>rapidly,<\/span>\u00a0This has been highlighted<\/span> by the disruption caused by Covid-19 in 2020. Staff<\/span>\u00a0and students<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>should\u00a0<\/span>take time to <\/span>reflect on\u00a0<\/span>their<\/span>\u00a0digital skills and develop them to help<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>engage and thrive in a digital world.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the Jisc Discovery Tool?<\/h4>\n

Staff and students at the University of Bath <\/span>can use the\u00a0<\/span>Jisc<\/span>\u00a0discovery tool<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to assess\u00a0<\/span>their\u00a0<\/span>digital skills and identify strengths and areas for development. The<\/span>\u00a0self-reflective<\/span>\u00a0tool uses the\u00a0<\/span>Jisc<\/span>\u00a0digital capability framework<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to describe the digital skills needed by staff from a wide range of academic, administrative, and professional roles<\/span>\u00a0in Higher Education.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After complet<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0a short survey,\u00a0<\/span>users\u00a0<\/span>receive a report with\u00a0<\/span>personalised<\/span>\u00a0next steps and links to free resources to support\u00a0<\/span>their<\/span>\u00a0development. The report is completely anonymous<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>users<\/span>\u00a0can't be identified from the data\u00a0<\/span>they<\/span>\u00a0provide.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We're piloting the discovery tool during the 2020\/21 academic year.\u00a0<\/span>So far more than 1000 staff have self-assessed their digital skills and received a\u00a0<\/span>personali<\/span>s<\/span>ed<\/span>\u00a0report.\u00a0<\/span>To complete the question set,\u00a0<\/span>University staff and students\u00a0<\/span>just need to\u00a0<\/span>sign in with\u00a0<\/span>their<\/span>\u00a0University username and password.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
