The award recognises the systems and practices we have in place to support researchers\u2019 career and professional development in line with the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. It acknowledges that we are committed to nurturing and further developing our postdoctoral researchers.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Jonathan Knight, PVC Research, said: \u2018The award reflects our commitment to being a centre of excellence for the development of postdoctoral researchers, a key element in the University of Bath\u2019s research strategy. This is reflected in the progress we have made over the past two years, for example in implementing a transparent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/hr\/working\/academic-promotion\/research-fellow.html\">promotion process<\/a> for research staff\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Other projects included a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/hr\/learning\/individuals\/coaching-mentoring\/mentoring-education-research-job-family\/index.html\">mentoring scheme for staff in the E&amp;R job family<\/a>, recognition for research staff being members of supervisory teams for doctoral students and the role of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/learningandteaching\/rdu\/researchersatbath\/drsc.html\">Departmental Research Staff Co-ordinators<\/a> being expanded to support departments in enacting the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/learningandteaching\/rdu\/researchersatbath\/CoP_March_2013.pdf\">Code of Practice for the Employment of research staff<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Chris Brace, Chair of the Research Staff Working Group which leads the development and implementation of the action plan, is looking forward to future development: \u2018A focus of our work in the next two years is to develop a shared vision for research staff at the University as well as look at the support we provide to research staff who teach\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>All details of past actions and actions planned for the next two year can be found in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/learningandteaching\/rdu\/researchersatbath\/HR_Excellence_in_Research_UoB_-_Six_year_review_.pdf\">six year review<\/a> and HR Excellence in Research <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/learningandteaching\/rdu\/researchersatbath\/HR_excellence_in_research_UoB_-action_plan_2017-2020_.pdf\">action plan 2017-2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bath is one of only 18 Universities to hold the award for six years.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 98 UK organisations now hold the Award, which also commits them to a programme of internal and external evaluation.<br \/>\nMore information about the Award can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitae.ac.uk\/policy\/hr-excellence-in-research\">Vitae webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Bath has successfully retained its HR Excellence in Research Award.
