Dear overseas partners,

Welcome to the August issue of the University of Bath Agents' Newsletter.

There are a number of important updates included below as we prepare to welcome new students to Bath. As always please share this information among your agents and with all those involved in counselling prospective students.

This month's newsletter includes details on a number of new courses available for 2019 entry as well as details of some international visits, so please read carefully and share widely.

If you have any questions, please email j.m.vittles@bath.ac.uk.

New application cycle^

The application cycle for September 2019 entry will open on 5th September.  PGT course pages for 2019 entry will go LIVE by 31 August alongside those for 2018 entry.  Course pages for 2018 entry will be closed at the end of Freshers Week.

UG admissions update^

Firstly, we would like to thank all of our agents for supporting applications to the University of Bath and we look forward to welcoming our students here in September.

I can confirm that we no longer have any places available in clearing for 2018 entry.

I understand this is now a busy time, ensuring your applicants get their visas and also supporting the families to make sure that they have a positive experience of applying to study here in the UK. Therefore should you be experiencing any issues and you would like support, please do not hesitate to get in touch. You can email on uginternationaladmissions.co.uk. This email is designated for the international market alone and I will be happy to help, or advise you of someone who can.

Thanks again and we look forward to supporting your new students once here and also providing you all with support for our future students.

Document checking for new international students^

Document Checking sessions for students will take place from Sunday 23 September through to Friday 28 September 2018 for students starting on 1 October 2018. All dates, times and locations for the October cohorts can be found here.

Remember - to facilitate their registration process, please encourage your students to:

  • Accept their offer for a place at Bath on their Applicant Tracker as soon as possible
  • Upload their final Degree Certificate and transcripts on their Applicant Tracker as soon as they have been awarded their degree
  • Upload their visa decision letter and travel vignette via Applicant Tracker
  • Browse our ATAS FAQ here if they are applying for an ATAS course
  • Select the University of Bath as the collection point for their BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) – selecting a Post Office pick-up point will delay their registration

Police Registration – new online facility

International students from certain nationalities need to register with the police once they arrive in the UK. As of this summer, the process of registering has been streamlined to allow students to book appointments online. Students will then be able to collect their police registration certificates as part of their appointment, which will take place in the city of Bath.

Our course teaches students the core environmental engineering principles and supplements this with the digital expertise needed in industry.

Taking a whole-systems approach, students will analyse and evaluate environmental and industrial processes to protect the biosphere. Our course uses problem-based learning methodologies to enable students to solve environmental problems while considering economic and legislative factors.

Summer Pre-sessional Programme 2018^

We have been delighted to welcome over 500 students from 22 different countries this year to our five and ten-week intensive summer Pre-sessional Programme.

This year our students were given useful insight into what to expect here at the University of Bath, together with important information including accommodation and timetables, via our Student Welcome portal prior to arrival.

This summer we have continued to work in partnership with our academic colleagues to find new ways of increasing the interaction our students have with their future departments to ensure their studies are well-contextualised.

Our aim is always to help our students achieve a good work/life balance so through our integrated Social & Cultural Programme, every student has the opportunity to make new friends away from the classroom, relax on one of our Saturday trips to visit some of the interesting places easily accessible from Bath such as Oxford or participate in a weekly sports activity.

Our dates and fees for summer 2019 are available on our website here.

Please contact us at english@bath.ac.uk should you need further information or have any specific questions. We will be happy to help.

Agent Contact Details^

Important: We need to check that we have the most up to date contact details for all our agents.  Please could you let us know if you have made any changes to your office addresses, office contacts,  email addresses and telephone numbers?  Please could you send us this information to international-relations-office@bath.ac.uk.
