{"id":170,"date":"2010-01-17T13:00:54","date_gmt":"2010-01-17T12:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=170"},"modified":"2010-01-17T13:00:54","modified_gmt":"2010-01-17T12:00:54","slug":"what-must-a-conscientious-teacher-of-climate-change-do","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2010\/01\/17\/what-must-a-conscientious-teacher-of-climate-change-do\/","title":{"rendered":"What must a conscientious teacher of climate change do?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I ask this because I've a session coming up on our PGCE course with climate change as its focus. \u00a0One answer, of course, is to keep an eye on what the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/\">IPCC<\/a> is itself saying \u2013 as opposed, perhaps, to what is being said about it by others. \u00a0Their Google search engine gets you access to the wealth of its detail and reports. \u00a0For example, if you wanted data on glaciers and which are melting (and which not), and the effects this might have on fresh water availability, you might find your way to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/publications_and_data\/ar4\/wg2\/en\/ch10s10-6-2.html\">this page<\/a>. \u00a0Here, you'd read:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif\">Glaciers in the Himayala are receding faster than in any other part of the world ... if the present rate continues, the likelihood of them (sic) disappearing by the year 2035 and perhaps sooner is very high if the Earth keeps warming at the current rate ...
