{"id":2081,"date":"2013-05-01T08:46:41","date_gmt":"2013-05-01T07:46:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=2081"},"modified":"2013-05-01T08:46:41","modified_gmt":"2013-05-01T07:46:41","slug":"lets-hear-it-for-dis-ablebodied-animals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2013\/05\/01\/lets-hear-it-for-dis-ablebodied-animals\/","title":{"rendered":"Let's hear it for dis-ablebodied animals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Houston, Wednesday 1st May<\/p>\n<p>The <em>All American Association for Affirmative Action for Dis-Ablebodied Animals<\/em> [ <em>AAAAAD-AA<\/em> ] has called for less discrimination by wildlife charities in their treatment of animals, and criticised the continual portrayal of stereotypical images of fit and healthy-looking wildlife in posters, exhibits and TV adverts.<\/p>\n<p><em>AAAAAD-AA<\/em> Chair, Dr Bret R Stockdale III, said recent nation-wide polls showed the American people wanted more effort to help disabled wildlife have a better chance \"<em>It's a jungle out there<\/em>\", Stockdale confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Stockdale said <em>AAAAAD-AA<\/em> urged a more balanced treatment of animals in the media and said that focus group research shows the American public is resentful of the way animal minorities are hidden away from view.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\"End the lies; we need disabled animal pin badges now, wildlife charities need to wise up\" <\/em><em>said Stockdale. \u00a0He went on,<\/em><em> <\/em><em>\"Zoos across America need to fly the flag for disability.\u00a0 It's all around us but zoos hide it away.\u00a0 What are they frightened of?
