{"id":286,"date":"2010-09-18T07:20:42","date_gmt":"2010-09-18T06:20:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=286"},"modified":"2010-09-18T07:20:42","modified_gmt":"2010-09-18T06:20:42","slug":"meanwhile-something-in-parliament-stirs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2010\/09\/18\/meanwhile-something-in-parliament-stirs\/","title":{"rendered":"Meanwhile, something in Parliament stirs ..."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/business\/committees\/committees-a-z\/commons-select\/environmental-audit-committee\/news\/new-inquiry-announced---embedding-sustainable-development-across-government\/\">Environmental Audit Committee<\/a>, chaired by Joan Walley MP, has launched an inquiry into how sustainable development can be further embedded in Government policy decision-making and operations. \u00a0As part of its inquiry, the Committee will examine latest sustainable development performance data across government departments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: inherit;font-size: 13px;font-style: inherit;font-weight: inherit;margin-top: 0px;margin-right: 0px;margin-bottom: 10px;margin-left: 0px;vertical-align: baseline;padding: 0px;border: 0px initial initial\">The Committee is interested in receiving written evidence that looks at the following themes of the inquiry:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-family: inherit;font-size: 13px;font-style: inherit;font-weight: inherit;margin-top: 0px;margin-right: 0px;margin-bottom: 15px;margin-left: 0px;vertical-align: baseline;padding: 0px;border: 0px initial initial\">\n<li>How can mechanisms to ensure the sustainability of Government operations, procurement and policy-making be improved and further embedded and mainstreamed across Government departments?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"font-family: inherit;font-size: 13px;font-style: inherit;font-weight: inherit;margin-top: 0px;margin-right: 0px;margin-bottom: 15px;margin-left: 0px;vertical-align: baseline;padding: 0px;border: 0px initial initial\">\n<li>How can governance arrangements for sustainable development in Government be improved, and how can sustainability reporting by Government departments be made more transparent and accountable?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"font-family: inherit;font-size: 13px;font-style: inherit;font-weight: inherit;margin-top: 0px;margin-right: 0px;margin-bottom: 15px;margin-left: 0px;vertical-align: baseline;padding: 0px;border: 0px initial initial\">\n<li>Was the SDC successful in fulfilling its remit?
