{"id":355,"date":"2010-12-02T11:11:39","date_gmt":"2010-12-02T10:11:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=355"},"modified":"2010-12-02T11:11:39","modified_gmt":"2010-12-02T10:11:39","slug":"the-leaving-of-bradford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2010\/12\/02\/the-leaving-of-bradford\/","title":{"rendered":"The Leaving of Bradford"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three days and eight <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ellenmacarthurfoundation.org\/business\/featured-articles\/business-and-education-summit-the-bradford-101-conference\">10+1 <\/a>lectures later I, and hundreds of others, wait for a train driver. \u00a0The aim here is not so much cradle to cradle, as Bradford to Bristol.<\/p>\n<p>In the last days I have come to question my overly casual\u00a0(if not wanton) use of 'sustainable', and 'sustainable development', and have resolved to spend even more time than I do now explaining what I mean. \u00a0I shall also be attempting to stress that doing less harm is not the same as doing some good, and that the latter, in the sense of adding ecological and social value, and making human systems more healthy and resilient, are necessary focuses for schools, colleges and universities. \u00a0This is \u00a0clearly what comes of spending too much time with Ken Webster, but it does fit well with what I've been talking about lately in relation to thinking about the stages that a school might go through as it develops towards making positive contributions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three days and eight 10+1 lectures later I, and hundreds of others, wait for a train driver. \u00a0The aim here is not so much cradle to cradle, as Bradford to Bristol.
