I began drafting this post at the end of March, on a train slowly making its way through that most soothing of landscapes, the Wiltshire Downs. \u00a0I was returning home from three days on the road: grandchildren (an education in themselves), and a couple of day-long meetings. \u00a0I made just one intervention at each of these,\u00a0which was restrained of me (fewer than 100 words in 5 hours, all told).<\/p>\n
