\u00a0Only Exeter\u00a0has managed to get close to squaring this circle recently by being <strong>13<\/strong>th\u00a0in the green league (2013) and <strong>7<\/strong>th\u00a0in the most recent (2014) NSS rankings \u2013 or <strong>5<\/strong>th, if you exclude* the two very small institutions that perch uneasily on top. \u00a0Might it be something in the water in\u00a0the River Exe? \u00a0Or should we look to institutional management?<\/p>\n<p>Other <strong>green league<\/strong> success stories, don't fare so well<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Green League<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1<\/strong>st. <em>MMU<\/em> \u2013 NSS ranking: \u00a0<strong>121<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2<\/strong>nd. <em>Plymouth<\/em> \u2013 NSS ranking: \u00a0<strong>94<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3<\/strong>rd. <em>Gloucestershire<\/em> \u2013 NSS ranking: \u00a0<strong>104<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4<\/strong>th. <em>Worcester<\/em> \u2013 NSS ranking: \u00a0<strong>125<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5<\/strong>th. <em>Brighton<\/em> \u2013 NSS ranking: \u00a0<strong>127<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It is, of course, quite possibly to do badly in both, but I'll spare those institution's blushes. \u00a0They know who they are. \u00a0It's a fair bet, however, that none of the following\u00a0institutions would swop\u00a0their good national student satisfaction\u00a0scores for their (mostly poorish) green league ones:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>NSS*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1<\/strong>st. <em>Bath<\/em> \u00a0\u2013 GL ranking: \u00a0<strong>81<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2<\/strong>nd. <em>Keele<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 GL ranking: \u00a0<strong>59<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3<\/strong>rd<strong>.<\/strong> <em>St Andrews<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0\u2013 GL ranking: \u00a0<strong>81<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4<\/strong>th. <em>UEA<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 GL ranking: \u00a0<strong>28<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5<\/strong>th. <em>Exeter<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 GL ranking: \u00a0<strong>13<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But what about\u00a0those doing\u00a0less well?
