{"id":6299,"date":"2015-04-21T07:19:05","date_gmt":"2015-04-21T07:19:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=6299"},"modified":"2015-04-21T07:19:05","modified_gmt":"2015-04-21T07:19:05","slug":"notes-from-the-uk-student-sustainability-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2015\/04\/21\/notes-from-the-uk-student-sustainability-summit\/","title":{"rendered":"Notes from the UK Student Sustainability Summit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I missed the UK Student Sustainability Summit [ SSS15 ] which was part of this year's\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eauc.org.uk\/annual_conference\">EAUC conference<\/a>. \u00a0You will find SSS15 video presentations\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5ouXdA1hQyY&amp;list=PLR_xbfZoWPIuQtAcey1GMCmL_XWjuaJpE\">here<\/a>,\u00a0and pics of\u00a0the wider conference\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/nusuk\/sets\/72157649208970004\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There was a strong dose (sex, money and sustainability) of the reliable Sara Parkin at SSS15, with also contributions on the circular economy, nature loss, growing food on campus, how to get Jezza (and others) to drive less, and getting sustainability into the curriculum. \u00a0There was something for everybody with presentations from Leeds University Union,\u00a0Incredible Edible, WWF,\u00a0Post-Crash Economics,\u00a0People &amp; Planet,\u00a0CliMates, and the NUS itself.<\/p>\n<p>This was not the only\u00a0summit at the conference, as there was also one on sustainability in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fecommunity.ning.com\/profiles\/blogs\/further-education-sustainability-summit-24-march-2015\">FE<\/a> . \u00a0However, judging by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sustainabilityexchange.ac.uk\/search\/719?search_string=fesummit\">contents,<\/a>\u00a0 this involved climbing hills rather than\u00a0mountains. \u00a0Meanwhile, I'm told that yet another summit, this time on t<em>ransformational leadership, <\/em>which had overseas contributors, was as much\u00a0about campus bike sheds as institutional leadership.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I missed the UK Student Sustainability Summit [ SSS15 ] which was part of this year's\u00a0EAUC conference. \u00a0You will find SSS15 video presentations\u00a0here,\u00a0and pics of\u00a0the wider conference\u00a0here.
