{"id":6314,"date":"2015-04-30T20:08:12","date_gmt":"2015-04-30T20:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=6314"},"modified":"2015-04-30T20:08:12","modified_gmt":"2015-04-30T20:08:12","slug":"election-manifestos-take-7-liberal-democrats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2015\/04\/30\/election-manifestos-take-7-liberal-democrats\/","title":{"rendered":"Election Manifestos \u2013 Take 7; Liberal Democrats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Liberal Democrats manifesto is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libdems.org.uk\/manifesto\">here<\/a>. \u00a0It was no surprise (to me) that I liked what this said, particularly the separate sections on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.libdems.org.uk\/environment-nature\">Environment<\/a> and nature \u2013 protecting our natural environment<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.libdems.org.uk\/climate-change\">Climate<\/a> change \u2013 growing the green economy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here's a flavour:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"<em>Our manifesto includes plans for a\u00a0Nature Law\u00a0which will protect the UK\u2019s wildlife, green spaces, plants and trees, improve waste and boost recycling. \u00a0We will put nature at the heart of government decision-making, making our \u201cNatural Capital Committee\u201d permanent, with legal status so its recommendations have to be listened to. \u00a0We will protect habitats from\u00a0forests\u00a0to oceans, and the creatures that call them home, from bees to birds. \u00a0And because we believe everyone should have\u00a0access to nature, we\u2019ll complete the coastal path around the UK, improve the Right to Roam, protect more of the local green spaces people value as National Nature Parks and create a new public body to protect our forests for future generations.\"<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libdems.org.uk\/education\">Education<\/a>, there were no\u00a0links across to these sorts of policies which seems a shame. \u00a0I was struck by this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"<em>We have a clear ambition to eradicate child illiteracy: our changes will mean every child leaves primary school able to read well by 2025<\/em>.\"<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Commendable; but\u00a0a sad reflection on the state of our schools today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Liberal Democrats manifesto is here. \u00a0It was no surprise (to me) that I liked what this said, particularly the separate sections on: Environment and nature \u2013 protecting our natural environment Climate change \u2013 growing the green economy Here's a...<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":237,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false},"categories":[2,4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-6314","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-comment","category-news-and-updates"],"acf":[],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack-related-posts":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6314","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/237"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=6314"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6314\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=6314"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=6314"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=6314"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
