Who's going to eat all that herring?<\/em>\"<\/p>\n<p>I need not have worried as only 8 of them have been given slots worthy of the term keynote, with\u00a010 of the rest just sitting on two panels. \u00a0The other\u00a05 are\u00a0in the opening plenary. \u00a0Thus is language debased. \u00a0I never thought there'd be keynote inflation to match the ubiquitous grade sort; that's universities for you, I suppose. \u00a0Judging by how much time is allocated for all this,\u00a0the audience won't have much scope to do much more than sit quietly, not fidget, and listen. Just what model of learning is on show here? \u00a0Well, we know the answer to that.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the formal <a href=\"http:\/\/weec2015.org\/programme-2\/programme\/\">programme<\/a>, there's a <a href=\"http:\/\/weec2015.org\/programme-2\/parallel-programme\/\">parallel<\/a> one, <a href=\"http:\/\/weec2015.org\/programme-2\/side-events\/\">side<\/a> events, something for <a href=\"http:\/\/weec2015.org\/programme-2\/youth\/\">youth<\/a>, an NGO <a href=\"http:\/\/weec2015.org\/programme-2\/ngo-forum\/\">forum<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/weec2015.org\/programme-2\/social-programme\/evening-events\/\">social<\/a> programme, and <a href=\"http:\/\/weec2015.org\/programme-2\/social-programme\/excursions\/\">excursions<\/a> into the lightness of the Swedish night \u2013 I'd go to <a href=\"http:\/\/weec2015.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/A-day-in-Bor\u00e5s.pdf\">Bor\u00e5s<\/a> (again); it's where my house roof timbers come from.<\/p>\n<p>I'm breathless just thinking about it all. \u00a0Just as well I'm not going. \u00a0A saving grace for all those who've lavished their carbon budgets on the trip, is that it will, unlike all those early WEECs that were by-words for chaos, be well organised. \u00a0It is in Sweden, after all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you looking forward to WEEC\u00a0at the end of June? \u00a0The programme says that there are 23 keynote speakers. \u00a0\"23!\", I thought, \"that's over\u00a07\u00a0a day; hardly time for lunch.
