{"id":6383,"date":"2015-07-17T06:36:40","date_gmt":"2015-07-17T06:36:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=6383"},"modified":"2015-07-17T06:36:40","modified_gmt":"2015-07-17T06:36:40","slug":"poor-grammar-in-the-countryside-classroom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2015\/07\/17\/poor-grammar-in-the-countryside-classroom\/","title":{"rendered":"Poor Grammar in the Countryside Classroom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Confirmation\u00a0from the provinces that those folk at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.face-online.org.uk\">FACE<\/a> have grand ambitions for themselves and others. \u00a0Hence the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.countrysideclassroom.org.uk\">Countryside Classroom<\/a>, which, according to FACE is:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"...\u00a0<em>an online portal that enables teachers to quickly and easily access\u00a0high-quality resources, as well as identifying\u00a0venues for class visits\u00a0and\u00a0local services and networks\u00a0who can provide support. \u00a0Countryside Classroom removes the barriers that have prevented many teachers from engaging with teaching about food, farming and the natural environment in the past. \u00a0It clarifies and adds context to the wealth of support and resource that is available by making it accessible from a single point and by ensuring that it is of the highest quality.\"<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Although English grammar is obviously not one of FACE's strong suits\u00a0(happily for them, Mr Gove has gone to sort the prisons out), the intent\u00a0is clear. \u00a0Countryside Classroom will be launched in September. \u00a0Its\u00a0website is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.countrysideclassroom.org.uk\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You might become a\u00a0Countryside Classroom partner, although it will cost you. \u00a0As a partner, you have to\u00a0commit \"to ensuring that all children have the opportunity to learn about and experience food, farming and the natural environment\", which seems a bit strong \u2013 <em>all<\/em> children? \u00a0<em>Everywhere? \u00a0<\/em>Blimey.<\/p>\n<p>It goes on:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"<em>Countryside Classroom is actively seeking organisations to join the Consortium of partners to ensure that it continues to be a high quality, relevant resource for schools. \u00a0Each member of the Countryside Classroom Consortium is able to maximise the impact of their own work through collaboration with complementary partners.
