{"id":6518,"date":"2015-12-04T07:37:38","date_gmt":"2015-12-04T07:37:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=6518"},"modified":"2015-12-04T07:37:50","modified_gmt":"2015-12-04T07:37:50","slug":"higher-educations-new-fundamentalism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2015\/12\/04\/higher-educations-new-fundamentalism\/","title":{"rendered":"Higher Education\u2019s New Fundamentalism?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to Stephen Sterling for alerting me to\u00a0<em>Sustainability: Higher Education\u2019s New Fundamentalism<\/em> \u2013 a <a href=\"http:\/\/Sustainability: Higher Education\u2019s New Fundamentalism\">report<\/a> published by the National Association of Scholars [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nas.org\">NAS<\/a>] which says of it:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"S<em>ustainability\u201d is a key idea on college campuses in the United States and the rest of the Western world. To many, sustainability is just a new name for environmentalism. But the word has come to mean something much larger: an ideology that demands new limits on economic, political, and intellectual freedom as the price that must be paid to ensure the welfare of future generations.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This report is the first in-depth critical examination of the sustainability movement in higher education. The movement, of course, extends well beyond the college campus.
