{"id":6609,"date":"2016-03-11T08:49:02","date_gmt":"2016-03-11T08:49:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=6609"},"modified":"2016-03-11T08:49:02","modified_gmt":"2016-03-11T08:49:02","slug":"teacher-education-in-motion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2016\/03\/11\/teacher-education-in-motion\/","title":{"rendered":"Teacher Education in Motion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I'm in\u00a0Zurich to speak at a conference organised by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.education21.ch\/de\/partnerschaften\">Education-21,<\/a> where the key questions are:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>What does a desirable future look like? \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What do teachers need on their professional paths in order to move in this direction?<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The event has\u00a0contributions on international concepts of ESD and hopes to shed light on the related potential of partnerships between Swiss and Southern \/ Eastern countries\u2019 teacher education institutions. \u00a0The question of what partnerships and ESD can contribute to the development of teachers\u2019 professional competencies will be in focus.<\/p>\n<p>I'm speaking about sustainability and learning in the context of social transformation, as argued for by <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2015\/11\/27\/esd-as-transformation-a-liberal-review\/\">Mary Clark<\/a> and the UN. \u00a0This will argue a liberal position on learning, and promote a focus on the sustainable development goals. \u00a0My fellow keynoter is Sustainability Professor <a href=\"http:\/\/edst.educ.ubc.ca\/facultystaff\/ali-abdi\/\">Ali A.
