{"id":6710,"date":"2016-07-12T07:33:44","date_gmt":"2016-07-12T07:33:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=6710"},"modified":"2016-07-12T07:33:44","modified_gmt":"2016-07-12T07:33:44","slug":"its-time-for-another-university-alliance-for-sustainability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2016\/07\/12\/its-time-for-another-university-alliance-for-sustainability\/","title":{"rendered":"It's time for another University Alliance for Sustainability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another day; another\u00a0\"University Alliance for Sustainability\". \u00a0I received this blurb the other day:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin, together with its four strategic partners, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the University of British Columbia, St. Petersburg State University, and Peking University, will focus on sustainability as a comprehensive topic for collaborating in research, teaching, and campus management. \u00a0The new alliance will be under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Dr. Klaus T\u00f6pfer, Executive Director of the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) Potsdam.<\/p>\n<p>Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin and its strategic partners see it as their responsibility to actively shape the discourse on sustainability and to meet global challenges with activities in all parts of the university. \u00a0Forming this network under the topic of sustainability is a great chance to further develop structures to work with our most important partners worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>From 2015 on, the University Alliance for Sustainability will be funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and use the partners\u2019 complementary strengths to develop joint research and teaching projects, offer exchange options for faculty, staff, and students, and foster inter-institutional learning with regard to management issues. \u00a0To this end, the partners will develop joint undergraduate and graduate degree programs. \u00a0Student initiatives will be able to network with their counterparts at other universities.
