{"id":6968,"date":"2017-05-15T06:53:36","date_gmt":"2017-05-15T06:53:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=6968"},"modified":"2017-05-15T06:53:36","modified_gmt":"2017-05-15T06:53:36","slug":"face-and-leaf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2017\/05\/15\/face-and-leaf\/","title":{"rendered":"FACE and LEAF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I see that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/naee.org.uk\/leaf-face-merge\/\">NAEE<\/a>\u00a0had an article the other day about the merger of\u00a0LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) and FACE (Farming and Countryside Education), and the combined charity is looking for a\u00a0Director, Education &amp; Public Engagement\u00a0who will \u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201clead and execute an Education and Public Engagement strategy that enables schools to enrich their curriculum and increase public understanding of and demand for sustainable food, farming and environment.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>LEAF Chief Executive, Caroline Drummond, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe are really excited at this opportunity which comes at a time when it has never been more important to demonstrate and state the case for British agriculture. \u00a0The potential merger offers a real opportunity for our two organisations to work together even more effectively and efficiently to deliver multiple benefits to our partners and stakeholders. \u00a0The proposed merger will enable LEAF to further deepen our public engagement activity and allow the FACE team to scale up their work, nationally and regionally as the interface between agriculture and schools. \u00a0Such a combination will undoubtedly strengthen the impact of both organisations and improve the public\u2019s understanding of farming, food and the environment.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>FACE Chief Executive, Dan Corlett, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis is a very exciting moment for FACE. \u00a0I am very proud of all that the FACE team has achieved and the place we hold as a leader in taking agriculture into schools. \u00a0The exploration of this new phase, would allow us to maximise FACE\u2019s expertise in creating systemic change in education and the potential for this newly expanded organisation to offer stakeholders and partners improved efficiencies, enhanced engagement and create even greater opportunities for educating and engaging the public.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>These mergers never seem to be a coming together of equals, and it looks to me as if LEAF has swallowed up FACE. \u00a0However, it's quite possible that this will prove to be a positive move. \u00a0A key question for me is this: will\u00a0the education work they do\u00a0enable\u00a0and encourage a critical consideration of\u00a0the intersection of UK farming, wider countryside practice, and nature and environmental protection \u2013 or will\u00a0the emphasis be on\u00a0promoting farming industry interests to young people?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I see that\u00a0NAEE\u00a0had an article the other day about the merger of\u00a0LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) and FACE (Farming and Countryside Education), and the combined charity is looking for a\u00a0Director, Education &amp; Public Engagement\u00a0who will \u2026 \u201clead and execute an...<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":237,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false},"categories":[2,4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-6968","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-comment","category-news-and-updates"],"acf":[],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack-related-posts":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6968","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/237"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=6968"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6968\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=6968"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=6968"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=6968"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
