January 11th sees Plymouth's annual Sustainability in HE conference. \u00a0Will you be there?<\/p>\n
It's their usual mix of posters, presentations, keynotes, networking and lunch. \u00a0The first keynote asks: If education is the answer, what's the question<\/em>? \u00a0Of course, education isn't\u00a0the<\/em> answer. \u00a0It's one of a range of potentially integratable social strategies that aim to nurture a viable and valued future both here and elsewhere. \u00a0More on that later on, perhaps.<\/p>\n The posters are mostly from Plymouth. \u00a0The presentations, from academics and others, represent:<\/p>\n Anglia Ruskin [2] \u2013 Bristol \u2013 Canterbury Christ Church [6] \u2013 Exeter \u2013 Keele [2] \u2013 Laval \u2013 Middlesex \u2013 Nottingham Trent \u2013 NUS [2] \u2013 Plymouth [7] \u2013 UBC \u2013 UWE [2] \u2013 Vechta \u2013 Western Michigan \u2013 Worcester [2]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n A welcome development here is the non-British attendance, both from the continent and north America. \u00a0A less welcome development \u2013 well non-development \u2013 is that all the others are from those institutions that usually pitch up. \u00a0Little evidence, then, of an interest in sustainability spreading across British universities. \u00a0Mind you, it is a long way to Plymouth ...<\/p>\n Quite encouragingly, when you add it all up (posters + presentations + keynotes) there are but 2 mentions of ESD (out of 50 event titles) \u2013 one by the NUS, and one by German academics. \u00a0Someone really should tell UNESCO ...<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" January 11th sees Plymouth's annual Sustainability in HE conference. \u00a0Will you be there?
