{"id":7296,"date":"2018-08-08T15:30:44","date_gmt":"2018-08-08T15:30:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=7296"},"modified":"2018-08-09T13:17:03","modified_gmt":"2018-08-09T13:17:03","slug":"bildung-kultus-wissenschaft-und-kunst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2018\/08\/08\/bildung-kultus-wissenschaft-und-kunst\/","title":{"rendered":"Bildung, Kultus, Wissenschaft und Kunst"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My first memorable experience in Bavaria was a man on a bike in Munich with a teeshirt which said:<\/p>\n<p><em>Rules\u00a0Rules\u00a0Rules<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 except that all the words were crossed out. \u00a0Not quite an anarchist, I thought, because the words would then more likely have been:<\/p>\n<p><em>Rulers \u00a0Rules \u00a0Rule \u00a0Rue<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 again, all crossed out. \u00a0Either way, I took it as a judgement on Mrs M's sanctimonious bossiness. \u00a0Of course, Mrs M's writ doesn't run in Bavaria and she's about as welcome as a dust storm at an al fresco wedding.<\/p>\n<p>My second was stumbling across the Bavarian education ministry in a side street. \u00a0Being, Germany, however, this had the following grand title:<\/p>\n<p><em>Bayerisches Staatsministerium f\u00fcr Bildung and Kultus, Wissenschaft und Kunst<\/em><\/p>\n<p>... which is \u00a0breadth of curricular interest that the English have never quite managed.<\/p>\n<p>There was a nice booklet in the foyer which explained it all in considerable detail. \u00a0It was full of pictures showing 50+ children or teachers. \u00a0Only one of these children was black with no one with Middle Eastern, West Asian or North African ethnicity. \u00a0This contrasts with the streets where the impact of Mrs M's generous \"We will manage\" <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/merkel-on-migration-we-will-manage\/\">policy<\/a> towards economic migrants is visible for all to see. \u00a0No doubt the booklet is being reprinted ...
