{"id":7331,"date":"2018-12-10T08:01:54","date_gmt":"2018-12-10T08:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=7331"},"modified":"2018-12-10T10:10:30","modified_gmt":"2018-12-10T10:10:30","slug":"a-load-of-rubbish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2018\/12\/10\/a-load-of-rubbish\/","title":{"rendered":"What a load of rubbish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This was the title of an Economist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economist.com\/special-report\/2018\/09\/29\/emerging-economies-are-rapidly-adding-to-the-global-pile-of-garbage\">special report<\/a> on waste which was published about 6 weeks ago and which I've been meaning to write about ever since. \u00a0If you want your students to have access to up-to-date info about recycling and the circular economy, then this is a good place to start. \u00a0There is a lot, inevitably, on plastics and some of the data presented would be useful for those millions of students across the world now caught up in plastic project mania.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile\u00a0I see that the Prince of Wales has said that children should follow his sons\u2019 example by picking up litter on a new <em>Clean-up Britain Day<\/em>. \u00a0He's seen what the Swedes do, it seems. \u00a0Charles, William and Harry\u00a0used to clean up Norfolk in the school holidays: a truly sisyphean task.<\/p>\n<div class=\"Article-content paywall-EAB47CFD\">\n<p>But instead, how about a <em>National Day of Not Dropping Litter<\/em>? \u00a0Maybe when he becomes King he'll have a word with those nice folk at\u00a0<em>Untidy Britain. \u00a0<\/em>Of course<em>, <\/em>this felt need to have to clean up the country has a long history as we are truly a dirty people. \u00a0Here's one of H.H.
