{"id":7337,"date":"2018-11-28T07:16:15","date_gmt":"2018-11-28T07:16:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=7337"},"modified":"2018-11-28T07:16:15","modified_gmt":"2018-11-28T07:16:15","slug":"the-ways-of-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2018\/11\/28\/the-ways-of-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"The ways of the world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>1 \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Lord King, the retired Bank of England governor has taught at New York University for the past few years. \u00a0I read that he was recently required to complete a questionnaire by the university's identity\/diversity bureaucracy\/polizei.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0One item asked about his gender and offered 7 possible responses<\/li>\n<li>Another enquired of his sexuality, offering 15 possibilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It won't be long, I guess, before those nice folk in the US immigration service will be required to do something similar. \u00a0That will be the time to give up going there.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 \u2013<\/strong> an extract from a debate on gender in the House of Commons on November 21st.<\/p>\n<p>David T. C. Davies:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018I hear what the hon. Lady is saying. \u00a0May I bluntly ask her whether she would be happy sharing a changing room with somebody who was born male and had a male body?\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Layla Moran:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018I believe that women are women, so if that person was a trans woman, I absolutely would. \u00a0I just do not see the issue. \u00a0As for whether they have a beard, which was one of the hon. Gentleman\u2019s earlier comments, I dare say that some women have beards. There are all sorts of reasons why our bodies react differently to hormones. There are many forms of the human body.
