{"id":7345,"date":"2018-11-12T08:30:56","date_gmt":"2018-11-12T08:30:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=7345"},"modified":"2018-11-12T08:32:43","modified_gmt":"2018-11-12T08:32:43","slug":"connecting-classrooms-for-environmental-and-other-learning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2018\/11\/12\/connecting-classrooms-for-environmental-and-other-learning\/","title":{"rendered":"Connecting Classrooms for Environmental\u00a0(and other) Learning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week's <em>News Round<\/em>-up from <a href=\"http:\/\/naee.org.uk\/november-5-news-round\/\">NAEE<\/a> had a feature on the new <strong>Connecting Classrooms for Global Learning<\/strong> programme which has now been\u00a0launched. \u00a0The details are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/connecting-classrooms.britishcouncil.org\/?_ga=2.23396348.771533264.1537368782-1806058017.1520876593\">here<\/a>\u00a0and their website says:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe new Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning programme supports schools internationally to learn about and collaborate on the big issues that shape our world. \u00a0Connecting Classrooms is a flexible journey for schools around the world of learning, knowledge sharing and international collaboration.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We can be sure, of course, that these <em>big issues<\/em> will overwhelmingly be those with a social justice theme \u2013 inequality \/ poverty \/ discrimination \/ misogyny \/ neoliberalism \/racism \/ capitalism \/ etc \u2013 and pretty sure that issues such as species, habitat and biodiversity loss \/ global warming \/ ocean acidification \/ etc, will be minority themes. \u00a0That is, the <em>Connecting Classrooms\u00a0<\/em>programme will cherry pick which of the SDGs it focuses on because that's what global learning enthusiasts do.<\/p>\n<p>The writer of the NAEE asked why there wasn't a\u00a0<strong>Connecting Classrooms for Environmental\u00a0Learning <\/strong>programme as well, which is a good question which has no answer from Defra which has been captured by the wellbeing industry whose motto seems to be: <em>Climate change (etc) will not be a problem provided we feel good about ourselves<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The NAEE news item then says: \"much better, perhaps, [a programme] that brings these two sets of ideas together into a sensible synergy.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What<\/strong><\/em> a good idea! \u00a0Someone should tell the DfE ...<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week's News Round-up from NAEE had a feature on the new Connecting Classrooms for Global Learning programme which has now been\u00a0launched. \u00a0The details are\u00a0here\u00a0and their website says: \u201cThe new Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning programme supports schools internationally to...<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":237,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false},"categories":[2,4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-7345","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-comment","category-news-and-updates"],"acf":[],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack-related-posts":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7345","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/237"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=7345"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7345\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7345"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=7345"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=7345"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
