For I have learned<\/div>\n<div>To look on nature, not as in the hour<\/div>\n<div>Of thoughtless youth; but hearing oftentimes<\/div>\n<div>The still sad music of humanity,<\/div>\n<div>Nor harsh nor grating, though of ample power<\/div>\n<div>To chasten and subdue.\u2014And I have felt<\/div>\n<div>A presence that disturbs me with the joy<\/div>\n<div>Of elevated thoughts; a sense sublime<\/div>\n<div>Of something far more deeply interfused,<\/div>\n<div>Whose dwelling is the light of setting suns,<\/div>\n<div>And the round ocean and the living air,<\/div>\n<div>And the blue sky, and in the mind of man:<\/div>\n<div>A motion and a spirit, that impels<\/div>\n<div>All thinking things, all objects of all thought,<\/div>\n<div>And rolls through all things. Therefore am I still<\/div>\n<div>A lover of the meadows and the woods<\/div>\n<div>And mountains; and of all that we behold<\/div>\n<div>From this green earth; of all the mighty world<\/div>\n<div>Of eye, and ear,\u2014both what they half create,<\/div>\n<div>And what perceive; well pleased to recognise<\/div>\n<div>In nature and the language of the sense<\/div>\n<div>The anchor of my purest thoughts, the nurse,<\/div>\n<div>The guide, the guardian of my heart, and soul<\/div>\n<div>Of all my moral being.<\/div>\n<div>...<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>How does this speak to you? \u00a0Is it what you know? \u00a0Deep down? \u00a0In your core? \u00a0Is it what drives you? \u00a0Does it ground you? \u00a0\u00a0Does it say why you do what you do? \u00a0Why you think what you think? \u00a0Why you are who you are? \u00a0Why you try to live as you do?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Wordsworth wrote this when England was in a messy transition from an agricultural to an industrial economy with enormous technological development and social disruption. \u00a0The world was changing and people were being changed along with it. \u00a0In such times, we all need an anchor.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is an extract from the Wordsworth\u00a0poem: Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey, On Revisiting the Banks of the Wye during a Tour.
