Many congratulations to\u00a0Zamzam Ibrahim on her election as the next NUS\u00a0president. \u00a0I know Zamzam from her chairing of the NUS sustainability working group that I sit on. \u00a0 It's good to see another sustainability supporter elected to NUS's highest office, and she follows the good footsteps of Shakira Martin in that regard. \u00a0All the very best for what is always a demanding role.<\/p>\n
Inevitably, I see that some newspapers \u2013 including one \"of record\" \u2013 have reacted to the election of\u00a0Zamzam by repeating statements she made (on Twitter, I think) when she was 16. \u00a016! \u00a0I ask you. \u00a0I'd hate to be judged by what I got up to when I was 16, and so it surely should be for others too.<\/p>\n
I have formed a view of Zamzam by what she does now \u2013 in the time I have known her through the NUS \u2013 and shall continue to do so, resisting siren voices in their attempts to change my mind. \u00a0I shall do that myself (or not) if ever the time comes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
