{"id":7475,"date":"2019-05-23T07:12:43","date_gmt":"2019-05-23T07:12:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=7475"},"modified":"2019-05-27T06:59:06","modified_gmt":"2019-05-27T06:59:06","slug":"a-school-striker-in-the-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2019\/05\/23\/a-school-striker-in-the-family\/","title":{"rendered":"A school striker in the family"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of my granddaughters is striking tomorrow \u2013 but with permission which some say hardly counts, but read on as there is curriculum intent here. \u00a0This is the letter her parents received:<\/p>\n<p><em>Dear Parent\/carer(s)<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><em>School Strike for Climate Change Trip<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><em>This half term, Year 5 have been participating in the Make a Difference Challenge, which sees students take part in a social project on a topic of their choice. \u00a0Year 5 have chosen Climate Change as their topic. \u00a0They have decided that they would like to participate in a \u2018School Strike for Climate Change\u2019 strike as part of a global standby school children around the world.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><em>On Friday 24th May 2019, school, college and university students from across the UK will be striking to raise awareness of the climate emergency that will impact their lives and that of their future children and grandchildren, calling for the Government to take more urgent action. \u00a0Last month there were 1.4 million strikers across the world!
