{"id":7583,"date":"2019-10-30T07:30:01","date_gmt":"2019-10-30T07:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=7583"},"modified":"2019-10-30T07:30:01","modified_gmt":"2019-10-30T07:30:01","slug":"is-there-a-tide-running","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2019\/10\/30\/is-there-a-tide-running\/","title":{"rendered":"Is there a tide running?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I can't be the only person to have noticed that there is a sudden coming together of four complementary and mutually-supportive forces in relation to the curriculum and the crises in climate and ecology. \u00a0These are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teachthefuture.uk\">Teach the Future<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.educcateglobal.org\">Harwood Education<\/a>'s course on climate change for teachers<\/li>\n<li>GAP's <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transform-our-world.org\/home\">Transform Our World<\/a> resources hub<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenschoolsproject.org.uk\">Green Schools Project<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The first of these is an energetic group of young people ably supported by NUS (SOS_UK) and UKSCN, and a range of educational and social development groups. \u00a0The second is a corporate organisation whose training has accreditation from the UN. \u00a0The third is from the voluntary sector with support from the lottery, government and social enterprises. \u00a0The fourth is a social enterprise supported by corporates, the lottery and charities.<\/p>\n<p>They are focused, respectively, on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>campaigning to improve the curriculum (and schools)<\/li>\n<li>in-service teacher training in relation to climate<\/li>\n<li>resource provision about environmental and climate issues<\/li>\n<li>school development in terms of sustainability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a welcome confluence. \u00a0It is probably making other environmental education groups wonder what role they should now play.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I can't be the only person to have noticed that there is a sudden coming together of four complementary and mutually-supportive forces in relation to the curriculum and the crises in climate and ecology. \u00a0These are: Teach the Future Harwood...<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":237,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false},"categories":[2,4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-7583","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-comment","category-news-and-updates"],"acf":[],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack-related-posts":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7583","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/237"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=7583"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7583\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7583"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=7583"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=7583"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
