{"id":80,"date":"2009-08-03T16:26:08","date_gmt":"2009-08-03T15:26:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=80"},"modified":"2009-08-03T16:26:08","modified_gmt":"2009-08-03T15:26:08","slug":"the-journal-of-unpublishable-papers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2009\/08\/03\/the-journal-of-unpublishable-papers\/","title":{"rendered":"The Journal of Unpublishable Papers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this week's <a href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/displaystory.cfm?story_id=14119761\">Economist<\/a>, there's a heart-warming story of a successful journal start up. \u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/math.rejecta.org\/\">Rejecta Mathematica<\/a><\/em> is a \"real open access online journal publishing only papers that have been rejected from peer-reviewed journals in the mathematical sciences\". \u00a0As the Economist reports,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Rejecta was conceived three years ago by four graduate students at Rice University, in Houston, Texas. Two of its founders, Michael Wakin and Christopher Rozell, had just had a paper on card counting in blackjack rejected. Good work, said the reviewers, but find some other place for it.
