If every UK adult sent one less courtesy email a day, we\u2019d save over 16,400 tons of carbon a year \u2013 so, think before you thank.\"<\/p>\n<p>I was uneasy at this as I habitually say \"Thanks\", perhaps seeing email exchanges as conversations.<\/p>\n<p>I've no idea whether the 16,400 \"tons\" \u2013 maybe that should be \"tonnes\" (or maybe not if it's American in origin) \u2013 is accurate, and I guess I ought to check it. \u00a0And I'm not sure who the \"we\" is. \u00a0Is that the world? \u00a0Maybe. \u00a0And what about non-adults? \u00a0What indeed.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks for reading this. \u00a0There is no need to respond as I'll not take offence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I got an email the other day with this written at the bottom: \"Please don\u2019t take offence if I don\u2019t reply to say \u2018thank you\u2019.
